High-Frequency Questions

01

What exactly does the SBTI personality test measure?

SBTI is a personality exploration system based on five major models and 15 dimensions. The five models are Self, Emotion, Attitude, Action Drive, and Social, each divided into 3 dimensions.

The goal of the test is not to give you an abstract label, but to first convert your answers into a 15-dimensional vector, then match it with the standard patterns in the personality library to find the closest category.

02

How many questions do I have to answer? Why is it sometimes not 30 questions?

The question bank contains 30 regular questions and 2 special questions. Under normal circumstances, the 30 regular questions are randomly shuffled, and 1 special question `drink_gate_q1` is randomly inserted, so users usually see about 31 questions.

If you select "Drink alcohol" in this special question, the system will immediately add 1 follow-up question `drink_gate_q2`, making the total number of questions approximately 32.

03

What are the 15 dimensions?

The 15 dimensions are: S1 Self-Esteem and Confidence, S2 Self-Clarity, S3 Core Values, E1 Attachment Security, E2 Emotional Investment, E3 Boundaries and Dependency, A1 Worldview Tendency, A2 Rules and Flexibility, A3 Sense of Life Purpose, Ac1 Motivation Orientation, Ac2 Decision-Making Style, Ac3 Execution Mode, So1 Social Initiative, So2 Interpersonal Boundaries, So3 Expression and Authenticity.

Each dimension is determined by two questions, with raw scores ranging from 2 to 6 points.

04

How is each dimension scored?

Each regular question only has three raw score values: 1 / 2 / 3 points. Each dimension corresponds to two questions, and the scores of these two questions are added directly to get the raw score for that dimension.

For example, S1 corresponds to q1 and q2, E2 corresponds to q9 and q10, So3 corresponds to q29 and q30. All 15 dimensions are calculated according to this rule.

05

Why are raw scores converted into L / M / H?

The system first converts the total score of the two questions for each dimension into three levels: 2 or 3 points are recorded as L, 4 points as M, and 5 or 6 points as H.

The ratings are then converted into numerical vectors for matching, following the conversion rule: L=1, M=2, H=3.

06

How are personality results matched?

The system compares your 15-dimensional rating vector one by one against the standard Patterns of 25 regular personality types. It calculates the absolute difference for each dimension, then sums the differences across all 15 dimensions — this is the Manhattan distance.

A smaller distance indicates a closer match. If distances are identical, the system prioritizes the personality type with more precisely matched dimensions. If they are still equal, it then compares similarity scores.

07

How is similarity calculated?

The similarity formula is `similarity = max(0, round((1 - distance / 30) * 100))`. The 30 here is the theoretical maximum distance, as each of the 15 dimensions can differ by at most 2 points.

Thus, the closer the distance is to 0, the closer the similarity is to 100%; the larger the distance, the lower the similarity.

08

Why do special personality types like DRUNK or HHHH appear?

Special personality types have higher priority and will directly overwrite the result either before or after regular matching. The DRUNK personality only triggers when specific options are selected in the follow-up drinking question; once triggered, regular personality matching is ignored.

HHHH (Silly Happy One) is the system's fallback personality. If the similarity of the best-matched regular personality is below 60%, it means you are not close enough to any existing regular pattern, and the system will return HHHH.

09

How many personality types are there in total?

There are 27 personality types in total: 25 regular personality types and 2 special personality types.

Regular personality types are derived from a fixed Pattern comparison table; special personality types are triggered by explicit rules and are not included in the regular matching library for sorting.

10

Is the order of questions fixed?

No. The 30 regular questions are first shuffled randomly, then the system inserts the first special question into a random position.

This is done to reduce response inertia caused by a fixed order, making results closer to your natural real-time reactions.

15 Dimensions Quick Reference

Each dimension is determined by two questions, and raw scores are converted into three levels: L / M / H.

S1

Self-Esteem and Confidence

L: You are harsher on yourself than others are. When someone compliments you, your first instinct is to verify if it's genuine.

M: Your confidence level fluctuates with the situation: you soar when things go your way, and hunker down first when they don't.

H: You have a clear general sense of self, and won't be shaken easily by a random comment from a stranger.

S2

Self-Clarity

L: Your inner frequency has a lot of static, and you often loop in a 'who am I' cache cycle.

M: You can recognize yourself most of the time, but occasionally get taken over by your emotions temporarily.

H: You are quite clear about your temper, desires and bottom lines.

S3

Core Values

L: You care more about comfort and security, and see no need to keep your life on sprint mode every day.

M: You want to be ambitious, but also want to lie down and rest sometimes. Your value ranking is constantly being adjusted internally.

H: You are easily driven forward by goals, growth, or some important belief.

E1

Attachment Security

L: Your relationship alarm is extremely sensitive: if someone leaves your message on read, you can already imagine the entire breakup scenario.

M: Half trust, half testing — you often go back and forth in your head in relationships.

H: You are more willing to trust the relationship itself, and won't be scared off by minor disturbances.

E2

Emotional Investment

L: You tend to be restrained in emotional investment. It's not that your heart is closed, it's just that the access control is too strict.

M: You will invest, but always keep a backup for yourself, and never go all in.

H: Once you are sure of someone, you easily get serious, and devote plenty of emotion and energy to the relationship.

E3

Boundaries and Dependence

L: You tend to get clingy easily and also welcome others being clingy to you. Warmth in a relationship is very important to you.

M: You want a balance of intimacy and independence, and have adjustable dependence levels.

H: Personal space is very important to you. No matter how much you love someone, you need to keep a piece of space that belongs only to you.

A1

Worldview Tendency

L: You see the world with a defensive filter: you doubt first, then get closer.

M: You are neither naive nor a total conspiracy theorist. Wait-and-see is your instinct.

H: You are more willing to believe in human nature and kindness, and won't write off the entire world immediately when something goes wrong.

A2

Rules and Flexibility

L: You bypass rules whenever you can. Comfort and freedom usually come first.

M: You follow the rules when you should, and don't stubbornly stick to them when flexibility is needed.

H: You have a strong need for order. You prefer to follow procedures rather than improvise and cause chaos.

A3

Sense of Meaning in Life

L: Your sense of meaning is relatively low, and you easily feel that many things are just going through the motions.

M: You have goals sometimes, and want to slack off other times. Your outlook on life is in half-on mode.

H: You have a clearer direction when doing things, and know roughly where you are heading.

Ac1

Motivation Orientation

L: Your first consideration when doing things is to avoid messing up. Your risk aversion system activates before your ambition does.

M: Sometimes you want to win, sometimes you just want to avoid trouble. Your motivations are fairly mixed.

H: You are more easily motivated by results, growth and a sense of progress.

Ac2

Decision-Making Style

L: You tend to overthink before making a decision, and your internal deliberations often run overtime.

M: You think things through, but won't get stuck overthinking. Your level of hesitation is normal.

H: You make decisions quickly, and don't like to dwell on them once they are made.

Ac3

Execution Mode

L: Your执行力 has a deep bond with deadlines: the closer you get to the deadline, the more energized you become.

M: You can get things done, but your performance depends on the timing — sometimes steady, sometimes slacking.

H: You have a strong drive to push things forward. You feel unsettled until a task is fully completed.

So1

Social Proactivity

L: You are slow to warm up in social situations. Initiating contact usually takes a lot of mental preparation.

M: You respond when others reach out, and don't force interactions when no one does. Your social flexibility is average.

H: You are more willing to take the initiative to start conversations, and don't mind being in the spotlight in a crowd.

So2

Interpersonal Boundaries

L: You prefer closeness and integration in relationships. Once you get to know someone well, you easily include them in your inner circle.

M: You want to be close but also leave some space, and adjust your boundaries depending on the person.

H: You have relatively strong boundaries. If someone gets too close, your first instinct is to step back half a step.

So3

Expression and Authenticity

L: You are more direct in your expression, and usually say what's on your mind without beating around the bush.

M: You adjust your speech to fit the atmosphere, usually balancing authenticity and tact.

H: You are skilled at switching how you present yourself in different scenarios, and reveal your true self in layers depending on the situation.
